(WBR) uses an innovative business model to create sustainable bicycle ecosystems. Through WBR’s 501(c)3, we provide transport solutions to those who cannot afford them, and through Buffalo Bicycle Limited, we sell the rugged Buffalo Bicycle and spare parts. Buffalo Bicycle Limited also offers users repair and maintenance services via a retail network of shops and local mechanics. WBR has distributed over 600,000 fit-for-purpose bicycles and trained 2,500+ community-based mechanics. Girls with Buffalo Bicycles are 19% less likely to drop out of school; dairy farmers earn 23% more income, and health workers reach 88% more patients.  

 

About the Position

The Financial Analyst will join a passionate group of change-makers and be a member of WBR’s Global Finance team.  This role will support our fundraising team by providing detailed insight and analysis of WBR’s program spend against funding and ROI against fundraising efforts.  This role will support our program and M&E teams by assisting all aspects of budgeting and analysis of actual spend. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Works, collaborates, and leads discussions with stakeholders to support the fundraising teams’ annual financial planning process with a focus on forecasting, strategy, and ROI:
    • Fundraising drivers
    • Restricted and designated funding
    • Operational expenditure related to all activities
  • Supports the program and M&E teams’ annual financial planning process with a focus on spend allocation across WBR’s programs
  • Monitors the budget and spending status of programs and report on financial results
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly reporting and analysis to ensure the ongoing management of finances meet approved budgets and reporting requirements for fundraising ROI, designated or restricted funding, and overall funding
  • Supports operational finance and accounting activities including project and GL maintenance
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis supporting finance and other functions, while continuously seeking new opportunities for quality and productivity improvements


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and work experience
  • Ability to work with large data sets to drive insights
  • Understanding of financial modeling techniques
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Self-starter who enjoys working independently
  • Ability to meet multiple, concurrent deadlines
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Experience with Adaptive Planning a plus
